Meet Our Staff

Mrs. Amber Furr

I have been a member of St John for 10 years.  My husband and I live in Hilliard with our two teenage daughters. I come to St. John Lutheran School with 23 years experience teaching in Hilliard City Schools. My favorite things about working with children are: their sense of humor, their excitement for learning, and having discussions about favorite books. My favorite bible verse is Philippians 4:13: I can do all things though Him who strengthens me.

Ms. Kayla Brown

I have taught for 12 years - 9 as a kindergarten teacher, one year of preschool and 2 as a substitute.  I love helping kindergarteners learn new things and I love to see their joy in learning. They can have fun and be silly while still learning and growing so much! I absolutely love teaching kids how to read and introducing them to as many books as possible! My favorite bible verse is Isaiah 41:10: So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

First Grade

Mrs. Hilliary Alfred

This is my first year teaching first grade but my 5th year in a classroom setting.  I have spent the last 2 years as a building substitute in Hilliard for grade K-5 and prior to that taught kindergarten at a Christian school. I am married to my Husband Rob and together we have a 3 year old daughter, Amelia.  I also have two awesome bonus kiddos.  Jackson will be an 8th grader and Claire will be a 6th grader. I am excited for all the fun and learning that this year will bring.

Assistant Director

Mrs. Rebecca Rhoden

This is my third year as Assistant Director at St. John Christian Preschool.  I have a degree in Elementary Education from Concordia University, Chicago, and taught for 8 years before staying home with our two daughters.  My husband and I moved to Plain City with our daughters 5 years ago and became members of St. John Lutheran Church.  My favorite thing about working at St. John is seeing the children’s excitement for school and interacting with the families that come through our doors.  A verse that has been close to my heart is Joshua 1:9, “Be strong and courageous, do not be terrified for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
